Instructions for a safe place where to leave your box may differ depending on the delivery area you live in.
If you live in London, or Southeast of England, or in the Midlands, the following will apply:
Since we deliver overnight from 7:00pm to 7:00am, your driver will not ring / buzz or call unless you instruct them to do so.
If you would like your driver to buzz your flat / ring your doorbell or call you at the time of delivery, please add ‘BUZZ / RING / CALL ANY TIME’ to your delivery instructions during sign-up or on Box settings from the Manage Box page on your Oddbox account.
If you would prefer to not be disturbed past a certain time, please add ‘BUZZ / RING / CALL ANY TIME BEFORE (requested time)’. Just be sure to click Update at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
When signing up, we ask that you list a ‘safe place’ for your box to be left in. Your safe place can be anywhere that is slightly hidden, away from any foot traffic.
For example:
• Hidden behind a bush, a wall, or plant pot.
• Behind your bin or inside a paper recycling bin.
• In a shed or bike shed, providing that your driver can gain access using your delivery instructions.
• With a 24-hour concierge, providing they are happy to accept food deliveries.
If you live in a terrace house, you may like to request that your box is hidden in your rear garden. If so, we'd recommend giving clear instructions as to how your driver can tell which garden is yours. Please note that our boxes do not fit under most cars.
We advise against getting a box delivered to your neighbour or to a work address since we deliver at overnight. However, if there is a safe place to leave your box overnight and we deliver to your office postcode, then we would love to have you on board.
If you have a 24hr concierge and they are not in to allow access to the building, your driver will do their best to hide the box somewhere right outside the building. Due to a tight delivery schedule, the drivers unfortunately cannot wait for the concierge to return or for someone to open the door for them.
If you live in a block of flats without a 24hr concierge, you can provide us with the door code in your delivery instructions or set up a key / fob holding system with us, which would allow your driver access to the main door of your building so they can deliver the box safely inside. Please note that we cannot accept or make use of fire brigade keys to access a safe space. These keys are for emergency responders and Oddbox drivers are not permitted to use them for delivery. We also cannot accept lockbox codes for security and liability purposes.
If you live in our Northern delivery area, your box will arrive within a slightly different delivery window, from 9:30pm to 8am. Since we work with a different delivery partner in this area, they use open vans and so can't stray too far from their vehicles. As a result they won’t be able call/buzz you, or hide the box in any place that isn’t close to your front door, leave it with security/concierge, or offer our keyholding service.
