We're proud to say that most of our boxes don't contain any plastic. The excessive use of plastic is a huge challenge for our planet, which is why we work with our growers to avoid it wherever possible.
Sometimes surplus is packaged for supermarkets before we rescue it. If it's in danger of going to waste, we're happy to give it a home. Because if we didn't, both the food and the plastic would go to waste.
We may also accept plastic packaging in our boxes if it is necessary to make sure your produce arrives fresh to your door.
While plastic pollution is something we take very seriously, reducing food waste is one of the biggest ways to fight climate change and our main goal at Oddbox. As such we are happy to wrap up some lettuce if it means it doesn't get wasted.
If you would like to learn more about the plastic in our boxes, you can read more on our blog at - The complicated truth about plastic.
When rain or snow is in the forecast, we protect your box with reusable sugar cane bags. These bags are carbon neutral, as the carbon dioxide taken from the atmosphere in the sugarcane growing process offsets the carbon dioxide emitted through production and transport.
You can recycle these bags with other soft plastics at many large supermarkets, or leave the empty bag in your safe place with your box to be collected by your driver. If you have any further questions, please get in touch with our Customer Happiness Team.
